Compassion-focused therapy helps increase couples 'emotional security by regulating emotional systems, which can ultimately improve couples' attachment styles. The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of compassion focused therapy (CFT) on attachment styles of couples with marital conflict. In this study, a single case design of asynchronous multiple baseline type was used. The statistical population of this study was married couples with marital conflict referring to Hamedan counseling centers. Accordingly, three couples who had marital conflict were selected by purposive sampling. Compassion-focused therapy was performed in three stages: baseline, intervention (8 sessions of 90 minutes), and follow-up, and couples responded to the Adult Attachment Style (Collins and Reed, 1990). Data analyzed with visuals inspection, improvement percentage and reliable change index (RCI) strategies. The results showed that the rate of improvement after treatment and follow-up is for secure attachment styles (36.33-33.93), avoidance (40.37-37) and anxiety (26.47-25.98), respectively. Therefore, the research findings indicate that compassion-focused therapy can be used as an effective treatment to improve the attachment styles of couples with marital conflict

Captivity is one of the traumatic phenomena of war, which inflicts considerable damages on individual, interpersonal and ultimately, quality of marital life of prisoners of war. The purpose of this study was to investigate the factors affecting quality of marital life in the couples with POW experience using phenomenological research method. 65 participant couples were selected using purposeful sampling method respecting for diversity and homogeneity. Semi-structured interview was used to collect data and thematic analysis was used to analyze the data. Findings on the factors affecting prisoner of war quality of marital life included 25 sub themes that were classified into five main themes, including: interpersonal pathological interactions; individual psychological disorders; socio-economic factors; spiritual-ideological factors; and physiological pathological factors. The analysis of the structure of lived experiences of couples with POW experience revealed that the concept of quality of marital life in this community is a synergistic multi-factorial structure that requires an interdisciplinary and comprehensive approach in applied interventions and theoretical researches at the prevention and treatment levels.

The aim of this empirical study was to investigate the effectiveness of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) on marital conflicts in Cardiac patients with a history of coronary artery bypass. The method of this research was semi-experimental with pre- and post-test with a control group. Participants were 30 patients, who were selected through convenience sampling. Participants were administered the Marital Conflict Questionnaire (Sanai, Alaghband, Falahati, & Hooman, 2009) as pre- and post-test. Finally, 30 individuals who had the highest scores in the marital conflict questionnaire were selected and randomly assigned to two groups of experimental and control (n=15). To analyze the data, the ANCOVA test was used. The findings of this study indicated that there was a statistically significant effect on the experimental group on the following sub-scales: decreased cooperation, dividing financial affairs and marital conflict. It could be concluded that ACT-based training intervention was effective of the above-mentioned subscales and could be used to reduce marital conflicts in patients with patients with a history of coronary artery bypass. This study indicates the importance of education, as well as psychological interventions as an essential part of the recovery process.

Narcissism has many negative interpersonal consequences, and marital relationship is an appropriate context for many of these consequences. The present study aimed to investigate the efficacy of metacognitive interpersonal therapy on couple interactive damages in narcissistic man. In this research, a single subject method with A-B-A design was used. For this purpose, two couples (4 people) were selected through purposive sampling. For men, after determining the baseline level, 21 intervention sessions were performed and their wives completed questionnaires at the same time. Semi-structured interviews (SCID), narcissistic personality inventory (NPI-40) and researcher-made Interactive damages Inventory was used. In order to analyze the collected data, visual analysis, trend index and stability index, percentage of non-overlapping data (PND) and percentage of overlapping data (POD) were used. According to the visual analyses of the data diagrams, the intervention was effective on the 4 subjects. The mean scores of 4 subjects in the baseline have decreased from 212.66, 224.33, 193.0 and 245.66 to 101.0, 113.0, 84.66 and 115.0, respectively. The percentage of non-overlapping data (PND) in the two baseline and intervention situations for the 4 subjects was 100%. The maximum percentage of improvement (MPI) was higher than 50% for all 4 participants that indicated a clinically meaningful effect. This effectiveness was observable in the follow-up stage. The results of this study showed that MIT due to focus on self-awareness, interpersonal circles and schemas can reduce the couple interactive damages of narcissistic man.

Marital interactions are known as one of the most important predictors of marital quality. The present study aimed to investigate the effectiveness of Schema Therapy on interactional pathology of married men with avoidant personality traits. For this purpose, the single case method with multiple baselines design was used. Participants of the study were four married men with avoidant personality traits who were selected by purposeful sampling. Two men received 19 sessions and two others received 20 sessions of Schema Therapy, and follow-up was performed in a two-month period. To determine the participants' scores in interactional pathology, the researcher-made questionnaire was used. Visual analysis of the data based on the parameters of descriptive statistics and visual analysis showed that Schema Therapy reduced the interactional pathology among married men with avoidant personality traits. Schema Therapy can be used to reduce the interactional pathology and increase marital quality of married men with avoidant personality traits.
